Lou Gehrig's Disease In Home Care

A 57 year old psychiatrist contacted Fedelta hoping for a solution; she has a degenerative condition called Lou Gehrig’s disease. Being privy to her condition she knew that she was going to need full time care. She did not want to move into a nursing home and it was vital her husband continued to work. She was wheelchair bound and had a hospital bed set up as well as a shower chair. She had also told us that a feeding tube was also in her distant future.

To meet her needs we decided that we need to arrange in-home care which would allow her to stay at home safely while her husband can work. It also was more cost effective than a nursing home. we had arranged a caregiver to help her maintain her hygiene and nutrition needs With the care management plan we developed, she could look forward to spending the rest of her life at home rather than in a nursing home or hospital.
